The largest distance and open learning institution “IGNOU” has introduced a new program at the BA level which is BA in Facility and Services Management program. The minimum eligibility for this course is at least class 12th passed by a recognized board of education. It was launched on August 23 by the Vice Chancellor of IGNOU Prof. Nageshwar Rao at an event. 

The IGNOU course of BA in Facility and Services Management will be of three years minimum duration and it will be provided with the code BAFSM. The launching ceremony was attended by many notable dignitaries like pro-vice-chancellors of the varsity Prof RP Das and Dr Srikant Mohapatra, Dr Manroop Singh, Prof Sumitra Kukreti, Mr Aneesh Kadyan, National Business Head and Director of operations, CBRE and other dignitaries. 

The medium of instruction for this program will be English only. The basic eligibility requirement is a class 12th or senior school certificate from a reputed board of education. The admission forms will be invited for this BA FSM course in both July and January sessions every year. The admissions are open for this course as candidates can easily get detailed instructions and other admission guidelines using ignouadmissions.samarth.edu.in. 

The course will prepare students for various career opportunities in various sectors of facility management and service domain. The course ensures perfect comfort, functionality, and efficiency of the environment through perfect collaboration with people and technology. 

Prof Nageshar Rao during his speech said that the course will provide good career scope with learner-oriented topics and the university will also assist students in the placement. 

The BA in Facility and Services Management will provide a modular approach with various flexibilities like other courses. Candidates can easily exit from the course after a year or two as per the recommendation of the new education policy (NEP-2020.) He also urged the school to provide this course in other languages like Hindi and more if possible. 

Another spokesperson Prof RP Das, Vice-chancellor of IGNOU, has noted that the Tourism and Hospitality industry is gaining popularity these days. The sector is making about 10% contribution to overall GDP and employs huge manpower to manage various facilities. BAFSM is a career-oriented program that is designed to acquaint the learners with basic knowledge and skills related to facility management. Aneesh Kadyan also focuses on the career and job prospects of the program in the sector of facility management. He added that candidates can easily hold the position of Facility Manager to encompass their skills and talent for the growth of the organization. 

The director of the School of Facility and Services Management, Prof Paramita Suklabaidya said that the program is career based and provides the necessary skills to grab good job opportunities for young enthusiasts.
