Course Duration

3 to 6 Years

The general duration of a BCA program is 3 years for 6 semesters. However, IGNOU offers distance BCA with an extra 3 years of duration so that the students can slowly and steadily complete their degree. The aim of IGNOU is to serve the students with education and a flexibility in their life with studies. Even if the students have other things to focus on as well, it is easier for them to complete their degree at a steady speed along with practical exposure.

Admissions Procedure 2024

The admissions are conducted in two sessions at IGNOU. The two sessions, that is, twice a year sessions are January and July sessions. Program Delivery

The methodology of instruction in this university is different from that of conventional universities. The Open University system is more learner-oriented, and the student has to be an active participant in the teaching-learning process. Most of the instruction is imparted through a distance with only a small component of face-to-face communication. The University follows a multi-channel approach for instruction. It comprises a suitable mix of: Self-instructional printed material, Audio-video programmes transmitted through AIR and Doordarshan, and at the study centre, Face-to-face counselling at Study Centres by academic counsellors, reference library at the study centre, Web-based academic support: e-content available on e-Gyankosh portal, Assignments, practicals, Gyan Darshan Channel, including teleconferencing, Eklavya exclusively for Technology programs, Gyan Vani.

Assessment

The evaluation consists of two parts in theory courses: i) continuous evaluation through assignments, and ii) Term End Examination. In the final result, all the assignments of a course carry 30 percent weightage while 70 percent weightage is given for Term-End Examination. In order to complete a course successfully you are required to score at least 40 per cent marks in continuous evaluation (assignments) and at least 40 per cent in Term-end Examination.

The assignments can be obtained from the official website of IGNOU. Assignments constitute the continuous evaluation. The marks that you get in your assignments will be counted in your final result. Submitting the assignments before the due date is mandatory to avoid any kind of constraints during the Term-end exam.

Term-End Examination

Term-End examinations are conducted by the university twice a year and students are only eligible to sit in the exam after completing the minimum course duration.
