IGNOU Introduces a PG Diploma in Electronic Media. Get Registered Before 12th August

The Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced a new course in Electronic Media as a Postgraduate diploma. Candidates can easily get details regarding the course using the official website of IGNOU that is ignou.ac.in. Candidates can get themselves registered before the 12th of August, 2022 as the admission dates have been postponed by the university’s admission council.

IGNOU’s School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS) has recently introduced a PG Diploma course in Electronic Media under Open and Distance learning mode. The program was launched by Prof. N Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU for empowering students in the field of Journalism. The course is made as per the recommendation of the NEP (National Education Policy) of 2020. It’s a skill-based program that will guide students related to electronic media. It’s a one-year PG diploma program that can be stretched up to three years.

Students can easily register themselves for this course before the 12th of August as the date of admission has been postponed by IGNOU. Recently, the varsity has notified through its official Twitter handle regarding the extension of dates. The basic eligibility criteria for taking admission is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution. The mode of instruction is English but students can submit their assignments, practicals and project reports in other languages too. 

The fee for this PG Diploma program in Electronic Media is 9500 which can be paid in two different installments. 

At the time of the launch of this course, various guests and dignitaries attended the ceremony including IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageshwar Rao, Padma Shri Professor Pushpesh Pant and Professor Subhash Dhuliya, Former Vice Chancellor Uttarakhand Open University. The guests focus on the value of the course and the need for more programs that are skill based just like this in the field of Mass media and Journalism. They also focussed on the shifting dynamics and the necessity of media, especially audio and visual media including print media. 

Director of SOJNMS Professor KS Selvam has delivered the welcoming note before the available guests. After that, Prof OP Deval gave light on the course and its importance. Finally, Dr Amit Kumar, the programme coordinator has explained the details of the course. 

Other faculty members of SOJNMS like Dr Padmini Jain, Dr Ramesh Yadav and Dr Shikha Rai have presented a message of thanks to all the dignitaries and high-level guests at the moment.
