The Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced a new MA degree program in Journalism that will be offered in Hindi and Tamil language. The program is started as a flagship PG degree course by the MA administration of IGNOU. The course is introduced on July 11, 2022, by the Vice-Chancellor or IGNOU Prof. Nageshwar Rao. The School of Journalism and New Media Studies of the Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced this program after the recommendation of the New Education Policy of 2020. Many guests attended the launching ceremony of this new program. The program will be delivered in Hybrid mode by the university. The course is already available in the English language in both online and open learning systems.

The official announcement of Indira Gandhi National Open University said on Twitter that a new MA in Journalism and Mass Communication; a flagship program has been launched by IGNOU that will be delivered in two different languages: Hindi and Tamil. Prof Nageshwar Rao has stressed the benefits of learning courses in your mother language that it’s very easy to learn skills in your mother language. 

IGNOU has already launched a BA Vocational course in MSME (BAVMSME) that empowers the candidate for future opportunities.  It opens the door for various career goals and business strategies for the young generation. Prof. Nageshwar Rao thanked all the distinguished guests and scholars present at the ceremony. He thanked them for sparing their valuable time to the university and for their dedication. The Vice-Chancellor stressed the benefits of a teaching-learning system of a program for better output. The course will help the new generation to grab various job opportunities in the field of Journalism and mass media. Students will get best-in-class teaching facilities and other resources in Tamil and Hindi. It will be easier for them to get an education in Journalism and Mass media for their career growth in various media houses. 

The admission procedure is currently live and students can easily take admission up to the 31st of July, 2022. The university also released the dates for term-end examinations that will be conducted in two shifts: 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm. The examination will be conducted from July 22 to September 5, 2022.
