OPEN-MAT is an entrance test scheduled for the MBA program admission. Students for the eligibility requirement to complete their graduation degree from a relevant stream study and should obtain at least 50% marks. Students for the MBA procedure are required to appear for a 3 hour Test where the questions are related to General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. The admission and the entrance is conducted twice in a year, July & January.

OPENMAT Entrance Exam: Quick Information

OPEN MAT for the 2024 session is compulsory where students who are taking admission in MBA program. OPEN MAT Entrance needs to be appeared through online mode as the computer based test is conducted by NTA. The OPEN MAT will be conducted twice in a year -July & January. Examination is 3 hours long where the MCQ’s and some topic related questions are asked.

Clearance of entrance examination is mandatory as if any candidate fails then they are not eligible for the IGNOU MBA program. Entrance Examination is not that tough compared to the management entrance test like GMAT, CAT, XAT or MAT.

IGNOU OPENMAT Important Notice 2024

IGNOU University for the 2024 academic session has announced that the admission procedure will be carried through the entrance examination. For the last 2 years due to some unavoidable circumstances the university cancelled the OPEN MAT test for the Management admissions but now it is mandatory for students to first clear the entrance test for admission 2024.

Students who wish to take admission to Indira Gandhi National Open University for any MBA specialisation can check out the mentioned steps for the IGNOU MBA admission process through the OPENMAT exam.

Registration

Candidates looking to take admission in MBA/PGDM courses of IGNOU have to apply for the OPENMAT entrance examination, in order to do so, the students will have to visit the official website and register themselves with the required information. The information required consists of personal details, academic qualification, course desired, exam center location. Once the information is filled in successfully students will also have to upload the required documents.

Admit Card

A week before the entrance examination is conducted students will receive their admit cards. Admit card holds all the information like date, timings, exam center code, exam center name, details, and a few instructions to keep in mind for the examination.

OPENMAT Examination Day

On the decided date of the examination, students will have to appear for their entrance to their allotted exam center. The examination will be conducted in the form of Multiple choice questions. There will be 200 MCQs each containing questions from Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness subjects. Any student without their admit card will not be allowed to attend the entrance examination.

OPENMAT Result

Every year the result for OPENMAT is announced on the official website of IGNOU by National Testing Agency. In order to check results students are required to fill in their login credentials like application number and date of birth. Students can download their results by using their enrolment number.

IGNOU OPENMAT Exam Pattern

The pattern of the IGNOU OPENMAT exam is similar every year. The exam contains 200 multiple choice questions and the time given to complete the exam is 3 hours. The questions are divided into 4 sections which are: General Awareness (30 Questions), English Language: 50 Questions, Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions, Reasoning: 70 Questions

A) General Awareness

India: Constitution, Government, Laws, Famous People, Achievements, Organisations, History, Geography, Economy, Politics, States. World: Countries, Organisations, Leaders, World Economy, Summits. Science, Industry, Trade etc.

B) English Language

Reading and Comprehension: You will be asked to read passages and then answer the multiple choice questions based on the passage. Grammar: These questions would test your skills in English grammar. This section contains questions like fill in the blanks, sentence correction etc. Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms etc.

C) Quantitative Aptitude

This section tests your numerical and math skills. The most frequent topics are: Algebra, Ratios and Proportions, LCM, HCF, Statistics, Mean, mode, median, Permutations, combinations, Progressions, Arithmetic, Progression, Geometric Progression, Geometry, Number Systems, Trigonometry etc.

D) Reasoning

This section checks your reasoning skills. The commonly asked topics are: Assertion and reasons, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Cause and Effect, Coding and decoding, Critical reasoning, Family tree, Statements and assumptions, Statements and conclusions, Symbol Based problems, Visual reasoning etc.
