The Agniveers Will Now Get Three Year Degree of BA and BCom: A Good Move of IGNOU

The vice-chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University has said that the Government of India has recently introduced a new scheme for the recruitment of defence forces in order to make the security forces strong and young through the Agnipath scheme. 

IGNOU’s vice-chancellor said that BA and BCom degrees will be provided to the students who enrol themselves on the Agnipath scheme. It’s a bachelor’s degree introduced by the Indira Gandhi National Open University with the collaboration of UGC and the Ministry of Education. 

Detailed News on Degree for Agniveers

The Indira Gandhi National Open University has said that the candidates of the Agnipath Scheme will get a three-year bachelor’s degree in Arts and Commerce that will be BA and BCom after completing the training program from the defence training institute. These degrees will be provided based on National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020. These degrees are being designed in such a way to provide various types of benefits to the students who enrol on the course at the university. These degrees won’t have the option of honours and research segment. 

In this degree program provided by IGNOU for magnifiers, a total of 120 credits will be given a. Among them, 50 credits will be given to the candidates who have successfully completed their training at the defence training centres. It means, that 60 credits will be part of the complete duration from the training to a three-year job. They need to achieve at least 60 credits through the theory and academic career of the course. 

On the completion of the first year, they will be provided with a certificate, on completion of the second year, they will be given a diploma and on the completion of the third year, a complete degree in either BA or BCom will be provided to the students. To complete the degree course of Agniveers, they need to spend six years and after that, they will be ready to serve any of the defence forces of the country with the valour and enthusiasm. 

Prof. Srikant Mahapatra; the vice-chancellor of IGNOU has said that the Government of India has launched the Agnipath scheme in the previous days. Through this scheme, the recruitment of all the three defence forces will be done. The IGNOU is launching a degree program for the aspirants of military, navy and air forces. It means students can enrol themselves from any corner of the country through the online mode. The printed material will also be provided to the students who enrol on the IGNOU Agniveer courses in order to make the study more accessible and convenient. 

Agniveers or the students who are undergoing training programs in their respective training centres, and leave the job for any reason, their online education will not stop and they will receive the certificate, diploma or degree after completing the relevant stages of this course. They need to achieve a minimum of 60 credits through the examination and their career. Every year, they have to earn 40 credits to be eligible to clear the particular academic year in which 20 credits are from training programs and 20 credits from the academic section. This degree will also be valid for government and non-govt jobs as per the university rules. 

According to Prof Mahapatra, Agniveers can only join the course once they have successfully registered for the Agnipath scheme. There are many courses included in this program like political science, Economics, History, Civil Administration, Sociology, Finance, Tourism, Corporate Education and so on. However, NCVET (National Council for Vocational Educational and Training) is preparing for the credit that will be included in the course. The skill will be empowered and given recognition so that students won’t face issues in the recruitment to various government and private jobs.
