IGNOU Introduced 3 Specialized PG Degree Programs in Journalism

According to a recent notification of the administration of Indira Gandhi National Open University, the varsity has introduced three specialized PG degree courses in Journalism: MA in Development Journalism, MA in Electronics and Journalism Media, and MA in Journalism and Digital Media apart from the Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Communication and Advertising. 

These three IGNOU master’s degree courses in Journalism will be delivered through distance and open mode of teaching from this January cycle of 2023-24. These courses will be available in all the regional centers, the Indira Gandhi National Open University said in a press statement. 

In a ceremonial function held on Friday, IGNOU VC Prof. Nageshwar Rao said that the School of Journalism and New Media Studies is going to start new master’s degree programs in Journalism. All these will facilitate students’ and learners’ interest to reach various areas of Journalism. They can choose their desired specialization from all three. 

The programs launched by IGNOU MA in Journalism are:

• MA in Journalism and Electronic Media
• MA in Development Journalism
• MA in Journalism and Digital Media

According to Prof Rao, all three programs hold lateral entry and exit options and learners can easily pursue their desired programs at their own convenience. 

The School of Journalism and New Media Studies is already running a master’s degree course in Journalism and Mass Communication through ODL and online mode. Prof Rao also said that this program is being offered in various languages like Hindi, Tamil and English. 

At this event various dignitaries were present like IIMC Director Prof. JS Yadav, Prof of Nooyez Alok Verma, former Aaj Tak editorial director Qamar Waheed Naqvi, UN Strategic Communication advisor for Asia Pacific Dr Deepak Gupta and others.
