IGNOU Conducts “Innovation App Development Challenge 2021”

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released the guidelines for its innovative app development challenge 2021. This challenge is for both students of IGNOU and alumni. 

To take part in the competition candidates need to develop different types of mobile applications for the university and address the problems of ODL aka Open Distance Learning system. 

“Any bonafide student of IGNOU with valid registration or Alumni of IGNOU is eligible to Register for the challenge. The best three Innovative Apps will be awarded the Certificate of Merit and cash prize of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000, respectively,” mentioned in the circular of IGNOU. 

IGNOU announced this innovative app development challenge after world’s entrepreneurs day. The last date of innovative app development challenge registration is September 15, 2021. 

Specific Areas To Develop Apps

– Tracking System for IGNOU students regarding study material dispatch and distribution

– Provide all the information related to students just like IGNOU help desk

– Monitoring the online counselling sessions at various study/regional centres at IGNOU

– Tracking the status of the submission and marks of assignments

– Create an alumni network to connect students and alumni of IGNOU

How can you participate in the challenge?

– There will be two rounds of the competition

– In the first round, candidates have to submit the design document of the app for the problem they are addressing.

– The evaluation of the design will be done by the experts and the shortlisted candidates will get to participate in the second round. 

– In the second round, candidates have to develop the app supported with a web-based interface. 

– The apps of the candidates will be evaluated by a team of experts and the best three apps will be rewarded with cash prizes and certificates. The cash prize for the winner is Rs. 20,000 and the second prize is Rs. 15,000 and the third prize is Rs. 10,000.
