Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched its alumni portal (https://ignoualumni.samarth.edu.in) for people to interact and share ideas. The university has also launched its Facebook page for alumni (https://facebook.com/ignou.alumni), said by the university in a press release.

The alumni portal was launched on Tuesday in a meeting with the chairperson professor Nageswar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, and the meeting was attended by Pro Vice-Chancellors, Directors of School and Divisions and Regional Directors of all the Regional Centres, the university said.

In a meeting, professor Rao said that every year nearly 1.75 lakh students complete their Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificate programs from IGNOU. Hence, the alumni network of the university is so vast and these two initiatives (alumni portal and Facebook page for alumni) will go a long way in integrating alumni with the institutional mechanism. 

Dr V P Rupam, Director, Campus Placement Cell informed that the “Facebook page will help in bringing the Alumni of the university on a common platform and will facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences, the Alumni Portal shall provide an updated database of registered alumni, which would be useful in enhancing their engagement with the University,”
