UGC Allows 42 Universities To Offer Online Degree Courses - Whole Guide In 5 Min

It has always been a dilemma for students when it comes to pursuing an online degree course because the validity of online degrees has always been in the grey area. However, the scenario has of online courses has changed tremendously especially at the end of this decade.

The University Grants Commission has provided approval to online degree programs from 42 universities across India. It simply means that you can pursue your UG or PG degree programs totally in the online mode. Your lectures, assignments, and exams will be online you do not need to visit campus and exam centres for anything. The chosen 38 universities have the privilege to provide full-fledged online degree courses without any former UGC approval.

The universities that are UGC entitled to provide online degrees are Jamia Millia Islamia which has the approval of providing MA in Education and MA in Public Administration. Next is Jawahar Lal Nehru University, which will completely offer MA in English and M.Com online.

Then there are other private universities like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies which has the approval to provide B.Com and BBA, Jain Deemed-to-be University will provide you with seven postgraduate courses in a completely online mode such as MA Economics, MA English and more. Jain will offer two UG courses B.Com and BBA. The next institute is symbiosis International which will offer an online BBA in Finance and Accounts and B.sc in Economics.

Amongst 38 UGC approved universities there are 15 deemed to be universities, 13 state universities and 3 central universities. All these universities Other than these, there are 3 private universities - OP Jindal Global University, Chandigarh University, Manipal University are also included in the list.

These UGC entitled universities can offer online degree courses if they comply with the requirement of NAAC and NIRF according to the UGC guidelines. UGC invited universities that were interested in online programs for the academic session 2020-21.

The UGC has said that "Online applications had been invited from all entitled HEls willing to offer programmes under online mode for the year 2020-21. Each HEI was required to submit an affidavit for ensuring compliance to all the provisions of the University Grants Commission (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020,"
