Students who wish to get enrolled in any undergraduate or postgraduate course from Indira Gandhi National Open University can start applying as the IGNOU online admission for January 2022 session are going on and will last till 5th March 2022. IGNOU is one of the oldest and most renowned distance universities which was established in 1985 for students who were unable to pay high course fees or attend regular college. Primarily the admission process of IGNOU was done in the offline/distance mode where students were supposed to go to the regional center, get the form from there, fill it and pay the registration fees via cash or DD. This advancement of availability of online admission forms on the official website made it feasible for much more students to apply for IGNOU online admission.

Even after the advancement and online availability of admission forms few students used to go to the regional centers to fill the admission form in offline mode but due to the recent global pandemic now mostly every student prefers the online mode for filling out the admission form. What Is IGNOU Admission Online Mode?

IGNOU Online Admission Last Date

Everything comes to an end, so does the admission process of IGNOU. Every year with the declaration of the start of IGNOU Admission, the last date for the same also gets declared. Students are supposed to fill and submit their admission form before the declared last date. If any students fail to submit their admission form before the last date then they will be left with no other option other than to wait for the admission process to open again. IGNOU opens the admission process twice a year.

IGNOU admission registration date for IGNOU January 2022 session has been extended till 3 March 2022. Earlier the last date was decided to be 28 February 2022 but IGNOU extended the last date after receiving requests from all around to extend the last date. After receiving the request IGNOU extended the last date, however, this change applies to only undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. The admission process for Certificate or Diploma and PG Diploma courses for Januray 2022 session has been closed.

Applicants who missed the last date and were unable to fill the admission form for the undergraduate and postgraduate course can now take advantage of the extended date and fill online admission forms. As for those students who missed the last date for Certificate or Diploma and PG Diploma courses will have to wait until the admission for these programs starts again.

How Can I Check My IGNOU Online Admission Status?

After the successful completion of the admission form students are required to check the status of their online admission. This is a crucial step to check if their form has been approved or not by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is not necessary that all the students who fill the admission forms get approved and selected for starting their classes. In some cases the application forms get rejected, these cases include forms of applicants who provided false information or incorrect information. The status for online admission is available on the official website. Students who wish to check their status can do so with the help of their enrollment number. Students can visit (https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/) to check their status. In order to do so, students will have to fill in information like their control number and enrollment number. If the application form got approved then students will be notified of when their classes will start.

How Can I Take Admission In IGNOU Online?

IGNOU online admission form is the form required to be filled by students with basic details and documents in order to get admission in their preferred course. These admission forms can be filled in online and offline both ways. For filling the admission form in offline mode students will have to go to the regional centers, for students who wish to fill their admission form in online mode, mentioned below are the steps to follow.

Steps to fill Ignou online admission form of 2022 session

  1. visit the official website http://www.ignou.ac.in/ 
  2. Select register online 
  3. In the options in the drag down select fresh admission
  4. Select the ‘click here for new admission’ option 
  5. Fill in required detail like user name, applicant full name, applicant email address, password, and mobile number
  6. Click register 
  7. Once this formality is done students will receive an email with their username

Documents required

  1. Photograph (Scanned) (less than 100 KB)
  2. Signature (Scanned) (less than 100 KB)
  3. copy of Age Proof (Scanned)  (less than 200 KB)
  4. copy of relevant Educational Qualification (Scanned)  (less than 200 KB)
  5. Copy of Experience Certificate (Scanned) (if any) (less than 200 KB)
  6. Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC (Scanned) (less than 200 KB)
  7. Copy of BPL Certificate, if Below Poverty Line (Scanned) (less than 200 KB)

IGNOU online admission portal identity card

After the admission process, the next step is to download the identity card. To make it easier for the students the ID cards are also now available via online mode. However, the ID card will only be downloaded after the approval of admission. 

Steps to download IGNOU ID card:

  • Visit the official website
  • Log in as a registered user
  • Print your ID card visible on the screen

If any student misplaces the original ID card they can get a duplicate one by submitting an application in the regional center or by downloading the same again.

If any student is unable to download their ID card or faces any issue in doing so then they can mail to csrc@ignou.ac.in or they can visit their regional center and get it in offline mode.

IGNOU Online Admission Fees 2022 Session

Admission fees for IGNOU are 800rs for general students and 600 for SC/ ST/ EWS category candidates. Students who wish to take admission and fill the admission form will have to pay this admission fee. For those who have submitted their admission form in offline mode there 2 options two pay the first cash and second DD. Those who have submitted their admission form through online mode can pay their admission fee via debit card/credit card or NetBanking. IGNOU Online Admission Cancellation 2022 Session

Applicants who want to cancel their admission will have to write and submit a handwritten application form at their regional center. Students will have to submit their applications together with their original ID cards. There is another way to cancel their admission too which is writing a mail with a handwritten and signed application with an ID card. 

Those who have canceled their admission once due to any reason can apply for the admission process again in the future.

What Is the Student Registration Division (SRD)?

Student registration Division (SDR) is a division in IGNOU responsible for:

  • Making policies related to admission of students into different courses offered by the University
  • Looking after the admission, re-registration, etc process
  • Keeping the database of students 
  • providing guidance to the learners

The creation of SDR was done to make it a platform for matters related to admission in an easy way.

The last date for IGNOU online admission 2022 is extended till 05 March 2022.

⭐ Can I take admission in IGNOU after the last date?

Any student who wishes to take admission will have to do so within the due date as after the last date applications will not be accepted in either of the modes.
