Get Dual Degree From IGNOU: Know the Guidelines

According to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, the Indira Gandhi National Open University is set to provide dual degrees to the students of the country who want to avail this benefit of the dual degree. Earlier, a student can pursue only one degree or certificate course from an institution. In the 78th academic council, IGNOU has decided to offer dual degrees to the students of the country, said regional director Dr Dharampal.  This new rule of dual degree allows the candidate to pursue a degree from IGNOU even if he/she is enrolled in some other university. The courses are available in both open and distance learning modes.

DUAL Degree Admission Guidelines by Academic Council 

The decision to implement a dual degree system for the desirous candidates is taken in the 78th academic council meeting of the university that is applicable for both the UG and PG degrees. According to a press release by the academic department of IGNOU, if a student is enrolled in regular, distance and online mode for a particular program in an institution other than IGNOU, can easily register themselves for an IGNOU degree in ODL or online mode. In case, the candidate wants to pursue both the degrees from the Indira Gandhi National Open University, he/she needs to take admission through two different admission cycles as IGNOU follows two admission sessions: July and December. Candidates can choose alternative courses, and subjects as per the course selection provision of the university to deal with the situation in which students have some subjects the same in two degrees. Candidates can pursue one certificate or diploma program along with a degree course in his/her desired specialization.

Technical Courses are Not Under Dual Degree Mode
